Saying Hello to the World:)

Brooke's Delivery went so well!  She came 2 days early and is a healthy, beautiful girl.  We thought for sure she would come earlier, because I had been dilated and effaced for so long, but she was not quite ready to come and needed some more time.  Close to her due date, we decided to get my membranes stripped and an hour later, I started having contractions every 6 minutes.  We knew I was already at a 6+ and pretty much completely effaced, so we didn't want to take any chances of not getting to the hospital in time or not getting my epidural:)  So we checked in the hospital.  They were so busy, with the end of the year rush, that they weren't quite sure what to do with us.  They had 10 inductions scheduled that day and 6 other people who had just come in, plus me, and a couple behind us.  It was crazy!  Plus my midwife had a patient at another hospital she needed to get too.  They couldn't send me home, because by this time, I was at a 7+, but the baby was so high and I was not in active labor, so they told me to just wait.  After an hour, my contractions started getting more painful, so they finally admitted me and decided to give me some attention:)  So at 3:40 pm, I got my epidural (YAY!), they broke my water at 4:10 pm, and baby Brooke was born at 4:53 pm!  She was here safe and sound and we were so grateful!  Since the hospital was so busy, we got to spend a lot of time with just me, David, and Brooke before they took her away to bathe and clean her up.  It was a very special time.  We just love her so much!

What a sweet and beautiful little girl. I'm glad everything went well with your delivery despite the overcrowded hospital. Enjoy this special time with your little one! Love the name Brooke, by the way.

Congrats! I just happened to go down the list of blogs on the side of mine and decided to check yours:) Sorry I'm not better at keeping tabs this way but I was so excited to see you had just had a baby girl. I love her name and have had it on my list with each of my three gals. We just had our fourth baby, third girl, in September. We named her Molly. Good to see your face, even if just on the computer:) XOXO, Chelsey
